Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Review: Best Sound, But Only for Galaxy

When Samsung unveiled the latest Galaxy Buds Pro (Buds3 Pro), they made the most radical design pivot in their wearable history: they ditched the iconic bean-shaped pebble aesthetic and adopted an angular, futuristic stem design called the “Blade.”

As part of my testing for our comprehensive buyer’s resource on the Best Noise Cancelling Earbuds (2026), I was initially skeptical. Was this just a visual homage to the Apple AirPods Pro 3 with sharper edges, or did the physical overhaul yield meaningful audio performance improvements?

To find out, I spent 3 weeks using the Galaxy Buds Pro as my primary audio device alongside a flagship Samsung Galaxy smartphone and a Windows workstation. Here is what my ears discovered.

How I Tested the Galaxy Buds Pro

  • High-Bitrate Audio Sessions: Streaming 24-bit/96kHz lossless audio via Samsung’s proprietary Seamless Codec (SSC).
  • Daily Outdoor Walks & Calls: Testing the directional beamforming blade mics in windy conditions and city street noise.
  • Gym & Running Stability: Checking if the new blade design remains anchored during high-intensity interval training.
  • Galaxy AI Integration: Testing live interpretation features during real-time foreign language playback.

1. The Blade Design & Ergonomics: Practical or Gimmicky?

The angular blade stems feature flat edge strips that handle pinch controls for play/pause and swipe motions for volume. They also house customizable LED light strips (“Blade Lights”). While the lights are flashy when pairing in the dark, I ended up turning them off in the Galaxy Wearable app after Day 2 to preserve battery.

From an ergonomic standpoint, the shift to stems is an unqualified success:

  • Weight distribution is dramatically improved; the center of gravity sits closer to the ear canal.
  • The pinch gestures eliminate the annoying thumping sound you get when tapping touch-sensitive earbuds directly into your ear canal.
  • With an IP57 rating, these offer the best dust-and-water protection among all premium earbuds, giving me total peace of mind during rainy workouts.

2. Audio Quality: The Dual-Driver Setup Outclasses Competitors

This is where the Galaxy Buds Pro shocked me. Samsung placed an independent planar magnetic tweeter alongside a dynamic woofer, each powered by separate amplifiers.

The acoustic separation is the best I have heard on any mainstream consumer earbud in 2026:
The Highs: The planar tweeter extracts acoustic micro-details that the Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2 and Apple simply gloss over. Cymbal hits on Miles Davis’ “So What”* decayed naturally with crisp metallic shimmer.

  • The Lows: Clean, punchy, and controlled. It lacks the blunt subwoofer boom of the Bose Ultra 2, but makes up for it with fast, articulated bass notes that keep complex electronic music sounding tidy.
  • Hi-Res Playback: Streaming 24-bit/96kHz tracks using the Samsung Seamless Codec revealed noticeable depth and spacious instrument placement that standard AAC cannot match.

MY FREQUENCY RESPONSE NOTES:

  • Sub-Bass (20-60 Hz): Fast attack, zero bloom.
  • Mids (500-2000 Hz): Upfront and clear; exceptional for podcast dialogue.
  • Upper Treble (8 kHz-16 kHz): Highly energetic; sensitive listeners may want to dial the EQ down a notch.

3. Real-World ANC and Galaxy AI Features

  • Adaptive Noise Cancellation: The Buds Pro actively analyzes ambient noise leakage in real time. On my daily bus commute, it neutralized roughly 90% of traffic rumble. While high-frequency brake squeals still leaked through slightly more than on the Bose Ultra 2, it easily tackled office HVAC systems and distant conversation.
  • Microphone Call Clarity: The stem design moves the primary mic closer to your mouth. Combined with Samsung’s machine-learning voice isolation, callers consistently reported that I sounded clear even when walking alongside 40 mph road traffic.
  • Galaxy AI Live Interpreter: When paired with a compatible Samsung phone, the earbuds deliver real-time spoken translations into your ear while your phone displays the transcribed response to the other party. In my tests with Spanish and German audio broadcasts, it performed with under a two-second latency delay.

4. The Downsides: What Bugged Me

1. Delicate Ear Tip Flanges: Swapping ear tips requires a firm, nerve-wracking tug because of the proprietary hard-plastic collar. If you pull at an awkward angle, you risk tearing the silicone.
2. Ecosystem Wall: Just like Apple, Samsung locks its best features (24-bit audio, 360 Audio with head tracking, and AI translation) behind their own devices. Paired with a standard laptop or non-Galaxy phone, you are relegated to basic AAC audio.
3. Flimsy Case Lid: The transparent lid looks slick, but the hinge exhibits minor lateral play when opened.

The Final Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro (Buds3 Pro) is a technological triumph for Android users, specifically those with Galaxy devices. If you care deeply about acoustic micro-detail, clear calls, and modern design, this is the most capable earbud on the market today.
