Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Review: Flagship Features for $129?

Every year, audio brands demand that consumers shell out $250 to $300 for flagship wireless earbuds. But over the last few years, Anker’s Soundcore brand has systematically torn down that pricing barrier.

While compiling our benchmark testing for the Best Noise Cancelling Earbuds (2026), the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro immediately caught my eye. Priced at roughly $129—nearly half the cost of flagship rivals from Apple, Bose, or Samsung—it promises adaptive noise cancellation, Hi-Res LDAC audio, and an innovative charging case equipped with a built-in touch display.

I spent 21 days daily-driving the Liberty 5 Pro to see if this is truly a flagship killer or just clever marketing. Here is what I discovered.

How I Tested the Liberty 5 Pro

  • The Commuter Stress Test: Daily bus and light-rail trips comparing raw noise attenuation against \$300 flagships.
  • Audio Calibration Testing: Running Soundcore’s HearID 3.0 frequency sweep to build a personalized hearing profile.
  • The Battery Endurance Challenge: Continuous streaming at 75 dB with ANC engaged to verify real-world stamina.
  • Cross-Platform Pairing: Switching daily between an Android phone (LDAC Hi-Res) and an iPhone (AAC).

1. The Smart Case: Useful Feature or Gimmick?

The first thing that grabs your attention is the charging case. Instead of an ambiguous blinking LED, the Liberty 5 Pro features an integrated touch-sensitive smart screen embedded into the lid.

Over my 3 weeks of testing, this proved surprisingly functional:

  • You can check the exact battery percentage of each earbud and the case without touching your phone.
  • A quick horizontal swipe allows you to cycle through ANC levels, Transparency, and Normal mode.
  • It eliminates the need to pull out your phone during a crowded commute just to tweak a noise profile.

The sliding mechanism opens with a satisfying snap, and the matte case texture resists fingerprints far better than the glossy shells on the Apple AirPods Pro 3.

2. Active Noise Cancellation Performance

Anker claims their updated Adaptive ANC 3.0 samples ambient noise hundreds of times per second. In practice, here is what my ears heard:

  • Low-Frequency Drone: In a subway car, the Liberty 5 Pro eliminated roughly 85–87% of the continuous rumble. While the Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2 still creates a deeper, more isolated acoustic void, the Liberty 5 Pro eliminated enough noise that I could keep my music volume safely at 50%.
  • Vocal Chatter: It struggles slightly more with high-pitched café noise and abrupt laugh bursts than the AirPods Pro 3, but for daily office work and city walks, the cancellation is shockingly competent for the price point.

REAL-WORLD ANC ATTENUATION (Relative Comparison):

  • Bose QC Ultra 2: ~98% isolation
  • Apple AirPods Pro 3: ~92% isolation
  • Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro: ~86% isolation (Remarkable for $129)

3. Audio Performance & The HearID Transformation

Straight out of the box, the Liberty 5 Pro comes tuned with Soundcore’s classic consumer signature: big, booming bass and sharp treble.

For electronic, rap, and modern pop, it is immediately fun and engaging. But if you listen to jazz, classical, or folk, that out-of-the-box bass shelf can feel overwhelming.

  • HearID 3.0 to the Rescue: Opening the Soundcore app and taking the 3-minute hearing test completely transformed the earbuds. The app measures your ear’s unique hearing threshold across frequencies and automatically flattens problematic spikes.

LDAC Support: Paired with an Android phone streaming Tidal Master, LDAC transmission delivered rich, full-bodied audio. In Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”*, vocal harmonies were distinct, and the electric guitar solo had crunch and bite without sounding muddy. While it lacks the planar micro-detail found in the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, it easily punches above its price class.

4. Battery Life: Leaving the Flagships in the Dust

If you hate constantly hunting for a charger, this is where the Liberty 5 Pro runs circles around its \$250+ rivals.

In my benchmark test (ANC enabled, volume set to 75 dB), the Liberty 5 Pro lasted 7 hours and 22 minutes on a single charge. Combined with the case, I went a full 10 days of heavy commuting and work use before needing to plug the case into a USB-C cable. A 10-minute emergency charge injected roughly 2.5 hours of playback.

5. Where the Budget Cuts Show

At \$129, some compromises are inevitable:
1. Transparency Mode Hiss: While Transparency mode lets voices in clearly, there is an audible background electronic hiss when you are sitting in a silent room.
2. Earbud Size: The earbud bodies are slightly thicker than the svelte AirPods Pro 3 or Galaxy Buds3 Pro, making them protrude a bit further from the ear concha.
3. Microphone in Heavy Winds: In gusty outdoor conditions, the noise-cancelling algorithm aggressively clips your voice while trying to suppress wind buffeting.

The Final Verdict

The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro is the undisputed champion of value in 2026. Unless you demand the absolute silence of Bose or the seamless ecosystem integration of Apple, buying anything more expensive is genuinely hard to justify.
